ALA’s AmeriCorps National Award Renewed for Third Year

The American Legion Auxiliary is pleased to announce that the Corporation for National and Community Service has renewed ALA’s AmeriCorps National project for a third year. The renewal will permit ALA to place 15 full-time, full-year AmeriCorps members at national organizations with which ALA collaborates. Organizations slated to receive AmeriCorps National members through ALA in 2012-2013 include National Military Family Association, Operation Homefront and USA Cares.  ALA recognizes these organizations for their fine stewardship of federal AmeriCorps Member resources. We look forward to continuing to support their important mission work by supplying AmeriCorps national service members to them.

Recruitment Period Open for Call to Service Corps Assignments

ALA and various organizations participating in the ALA Call to Service Corps Consortium are currently recruiting for two AmeriCorps National members to start service as soon as July 2012, and 15 AmeriCorps VISTA members to start service in August 2012.  The organization currently seeking AmeriCorps National members is Operation Homefront.  Organizations seeking AmeriCorps VISTA members are American Legion Auxiliary, Blue Star Families, Give an Hour, Still Serving Veterans, Student Veterans of America and The Mission Continues.

Please encourage individuals interested in a national service opportunity to apply to a Call to Service Corps position.  Direct them to the service opportunity listing section of www.AmeriCorps.gov and enter “Call to Service Corps” as a topic term in the advanced search feature.
